Consistent with our value, faith, beliefs and culture of maintaining a lean demeanor while administering services of our organization Western Uganda FBO Network, coupled with our strong belief in the opportunities provided by the digital technologies to our society and other unprecedented challenges the world continues to witness like pandemics, we have are rethinking seriously on reforming our approach to work delivery. For over a decade, our work heavily depended on physical engagements (about 70%) and we have also recently (in the last 3 years) steadily introduced considerable elements of exploiting electronic and other digital ways of engaging our stakeholders while delivering our services. We strongly believe that we need to take this orientation further, as we strive to remain true to our mantra of “empowering grassroots with ICTs for development”. Here are a few ideas we are exploring in these five years of our strategy;
- Reforming and/or reducing our physical engagements, including our teams’ physical presence at office premises from the current 70% of time to 30%. If this is adopted in the near future, it means that our team will work 70% virtually/online and be physically present at our office only 30% of total time.
- Integrating regional and international work expertise in our team. This will, if approved, enable us to tap into certain specific quality work skills and experiences that may be scarce to tap into or hire and situate locally in Uganda, in consideration of our new strategic focus (2022 – 2026) requirements.
- Facilitating both out team members and stakeholders to be able to keep in communication 24/7; depending on a mutual understanding between the specific parties involved in the engagement/communication about our work.
- Enabling our team members and organization to make those important saves on movements, space, etc and enabling them to focus on their core competencies while executing their work and offering services.
- And of course, still in the middle of the threat of pandemic, contribute to keeping both our team members, stakeholders and their families as safe as possible.
- Innovating to address the online abuse and cyber harassment for the young children, improving our reporting mechanisms as well as financing and banking systems of the organization using online platforms.
