Children Peace & Rights Project

Project duration: 2023-2027

The Children Peace & Rights Project, part of the Western Uganda FBO Network, focuses on promoting the rights and well-being of children through education, advocacy, and community engagement. This project aims to create a safe and supportive environment for children, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are protected.

Objectives

  1. Promote Children’s Rights: Educate communities about children’s rights and advocate for policies that protect these rights.
  2. Peace Education: Teach children and communities about conflict resolution, non-violence, and the importance of peace.
  3. Support Services: Provide psychological, social, and legal support to children who are victims of abuse or neglect.
  4. Community Engagement: Mobilize community members to participate in activities that promote children’s rights and peace.

Key Activities

Educational Campaigns

  • Rights Awareness: Conduct workshops and seminars to educate children, parents, and community leaders about children’s rights.
  • Peace Education: Implement peace education programs in schools and communities to teach conflict resolution and non-violence.

Support Services

  • Counseling and Legal Aid: Offer counseling services and legal aid to children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
  • Safe Spaces: Establish safe spaces where children can receive support and engage in positive activities.

Advocacy and Policy Influence

  • Policy Advocacy: Work with local and national governments to advocate for policies that protect children’s rights.
  • Community Mobilization: Engage community members in advocacy efforts to create a supportive environment for children.

Partnerships and Collaborations

  • Local and International Partners: Collaborate with local NGOs, international organizations, and government agencies to enhance the impact of the project.
  • Faith-Based Organizations: Leverage the influence of faith-based organizations to promote children’s rights and peace within communities.

Impact

The Children Peace & Rights Project has made significant strides in improving the lives of children in Western Uganda. By raising awareness, providing support services, and advocating for policy changes, the project has helped create a safer and more supportive environment for children.
